Merrimac Awarded Recycling Grant

The Town of Merrimac was recently awarded a substantial grant from the Department of Environmental Protection through its Sustainable Material Recovery Program. Grants from this program go towards recycling, composting, reuse and source reduction activities. Merrimac received a grant of $41,853 to support its recycling and waste reduction efforts. Bradford Company Awarded Grant

DiPietro Heating & Cooling, Inc. of Bradford, MA was recently awarded $25,000 to train workers through the Department of Industrial Accidents Workplace Safety Training Grant. This initiative helps companies in the state to promote a safe and healthy work environment through educational programs. Boxford Receives New Grant

The Town of Boxford was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $286,493 for Hazard Mitigation. The Massachusetts Energy Management Agency (MEMA) and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) are responsible for distributing approximately $13.2 million in federal aid for all hazard mitigation associated with sever winter storms, snowstorms, and flooding. This past weekend, I had the honor of celebrating Scott Berkenbush’s distinguished career with the West Newbury Fire Department at an event for his retirement. Scott has served the West Newbury community for 46 years, from firefighter at the age of 19 to fire chief for the last eight years. New Local Recycling Grants

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection recently awarded three grants through the Recycling Dividends Program. The town of Boxford was awarded $7,200, the town of Merrimac was awarded $3,500, and the city of Haverhill was awarded $35,000 to further each of their efforts in maintaining comprehensive recycling programs. Attended a very moving ceremony at the Essex County correctional facility, recognizing National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Timothy Beech, Eagle Scout

I had the sincere honor of attending a ceremony at St. Ann’s church for Timothy Beech, where I presented a citation for achieving the status of Eagle Scout, something only about 4% of scouts ever achieve. Timothy helped create a sustainable food pantry/community donation center for the Town of West Newbury for his final project. Congratulations Timothy!
