Unsung Heroine Coming to State House
June 20 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women is hosting the fifteenth-annual Unsung Heroines of Massachusetts event in June. The Unsung Heroines initiative identifies and honors extraordinary women from across the Commonwealth. We are asking legislators to play a special role by partnering with us to identify the 2018 class of Unsung Heroines.
The Unsung Heroines are women who don’t make the news, but make the difference. Thousands of women in every community of the state perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and towns better places to live. Unsung Heroines use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their community. They are mentors, volunteers and innovators who strive to protect and represent the interests of seniors, victims of violence, children, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations. They are the glue that keeps a community together.
The MCSW respectfully requests that each legislator nominate one female constituent to represent her community and be honored as a 2018 Unsung Heroine. All Unsung Heroines will be invited to attend a ceremony on June 20, 2018 at the State House in Boston.
