Representative Mirra joined several legislators from the Northern Essex region last Thursday to discuss the financial and logistical challenges facing regional school districts. The panel included state auditor Suzanne Bump, the director of local mandates Ben Tafoya, Triton Superintendent Brian Forget, Senator Bruce Tarr, Senator Kathleen O’Connor Ives, Representative James Kelcourse, and Representative Brad Hill.
During the discussion, Representative Mirra offered a positive outlook on the issues facing regional school districts. “Revenues seem to be trending higher and above forecast,” Mirra said. “We need to invest that money into education. (Baker) is from municipal government, he understands how it works, it is my sincere hope that we will be seeing additional revenues in that regard.”
